Off to somewhere in Italy. "TAR"?

TAR is ICAO code for Taranto.

From wikipedia:As Alenia Aeronautica produces big fuselage parts of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner in an hangar located beside an airport's apron, multiple times a month, a Boeing 747 Large Cargo Freighter, also known as Dreamlifter, lands at Taranto Grottaglie to pick up the parts and to fly them to Boeing factory plant in Paine Field for final assembly.

Yea I seen that last night.

As we speak a Ryanair is flying over my house.

Does anyone know where or what type of camera is used to get this detail? There are loads of transatlantic flights over my house every day. But even on a sunny day like yesterday and with binos all I can see is white. I can't see what airline it is etc.

Why would you need a telescope? A dSLR and a decent sized lens would be grand. That is what everyone else uses.

I used a crappy digital camera and got some decent results with mine, the airline and aircraft was clearly identifiable. I doubt I'd need to go out and get a telescope to see any improvement.
