Are those just littered with all book spoilers and should only be read if you've read the whole series?

I'm almost finished the first part of ASOS.

Better off finishing ASOS before going into the have read threads

    It's a great book.

You should atleast finish both books of ASOS to be honest. There's talk of minor plot changes from the book but also future predictions of how things will be done. Usually they stay within ASOS and will add spoiler tags for anything in AFFC or ADWD.

Not at all, we just like to discuss how the show has handled the scenes we love and give out when they leave out some key moments or handling some things very poorly.

LOL if this is serious grow up.

If we posted in the same thread people who just watch the show would be up in arms as it is very hard to not discuss how you feel something will turn out differently to how it was done in the books. Separate threads are there for good reason.

To the op Id finish the 3rd book at least but be warned the odd reference to the later books can be mentioned too but is spoilered alot of the time.

Yes, literacy often makes me feel smug and superior.

Don't read them until you finished all the books imo.

There's a good bit of talk about the 4th & 5th book in them and not always spoilered. I'd read them all before venturing in.

Better safe than sorry. Stay out til you finish ADWD imo.

Part of the problem is that although there's clearly defined guidelines for posting in the "Haven't read the book thread" the "Have Read the Books thread" is a bit more wishy washy because it caters to those who've read only up til the end of this series (SOS), later on or the entire series up to ADWD.

If we were to firm up the rules a bit it might be safer. Still though, it's hard to avoid winkwinknudgenudgery.

And a seperate thread for the point up to which each person has read would be silly.;)

Actually, those who want to feel smug and superior pretend they haven't read the books and make 'predictions' in the non book threads.

Well, there may not be explicit guidelines but the title of the thread is "have read the books" not "have read up to ASOS, reading the next one"!

Having separate threads is a good idea, and I appreciate the efforts of book readers in reporting dickheads that feel the need to spoil and *predict* whats going to happen

It's frustrating to have to sit back and watch, though, because you can't really call anyone on their suspiciously accurate posts. If you do, you only give the game away by confirming that they're accurate, so you have to sit tight and keep your mouth shut. Yes, you can report dodgy posts, but it's just not as gratifying as being able to call them a dickhead yourself.

I will try to remind myself to add a more definitive warning to the threads from now on, just to spell out to folks that there maybe discussion contained in those threads beyond the book of the current series / episode to avoid any potential nastiness, but I think most already assume this when opening the thread.

Ìt's been a couple of years since my last re-read so I'm not exactly sure when everything happens, so only up to the end of ASOS would be too limiting imo. All or nothing is how I think it should be.

I've read the books 3 times at this stage and even then, I'd get confused as to what's happened in what book...
