Selling my car.. Offered a swap deal.. Advice..?!

So I've had my car on sale for a few weeks, and have had an offer of a trade:

My car, an Audi A6 05 is here: http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/4845162

    Their car is here: http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/4946865

I would value my car a good bit higher than the BMW to be honest, condition on the interior doesn't look close to what mine looks regardless of pics plus mines a leather interior.

Think that peaked my interest is the LPG which would be a massive diff on the fuel costs, assuming that car isnt riddled with problems!

Out of interest, which is the more, well sellable?! I would swap if i thought i had a better chance of a quicker sale close to my asking price.

Any opinions welcome, just try to be nice :p

Mileage and priced similar. He is offering leather at some additional cost.
There is nothing holding you guys back from inspecting each others cars and giving it some thought.

The thing about the price is the chap only put it up on donedeal as i asked his missus to send me on pics, seems as though the price was put up to just closely match mine, but then maybe it is of similar value. I'm no expert whatsoever but did a little searching and I think based on similar models/ads for each i'd price mine a grand higher in 'value'.

Also, he's in Waterford and I'm in Dub so want to avoid wasting a trip if its clear cut not a good deal!

If I were in your situation I'd probably look into it further tbh. The LPG is a major selling point on the BMW and I'm sure you could negotiate a leather interior in there somewhere. After that, whip out the polish and wax and that BMW looks like it would come up a treat.

I'd do it anyway for the sake of driving something different. Not sure your Audi is worth that much more than the BM either tbh. Very clean looking car though. :)

I've done a few searches on Done deal and Carzone, the latter I cant for the life of me work out where the massive difference in values are coming from, they go for as low as 5300 or so all the way up to 8k and more with the only extra's ive noticed (albeit at a glance) are leather interior and maybe some nice alloys.

Seems genuine. He really wants an A6 by the looks of it. http://www.itsasteal.ie/Publish/ResultDetail.aspx?AD=17675

Does he have paperwork for the LPG conversion? Did you try getting an insurance quote for it?

Hmmm, thats interesting, an add from 200 days ago. Im pretty sure he told me they just recently bought the BMW in the last few weeks but the wife doesnt like it, so why not just buy the Audi instead of two different cars first, that makes me a little suspicious tbh.

Gonna give the insurance company a ring tomorrow and see what the story is. Even if i dont swap, i might get this done to the Audi if i cant sell it, never heard of LPG til yesterday!

Will have to call him back to suss out the above and ask about the paperwork/warranty for the above.

    Good find, Sherlock:D
Genuine or not, question is if OP wants to sell to upgrade (years up I mean), or just change.
If the latter, then it is something i would consider - at least to see how LPG works for me. I assume BMW owner has all paperwork regarding LPG installation - in case insurer asked for it.

Maybe "The Devil you know?" as the saying goes.... Unless your sure of seller of BMWs real intentions/reasons for wanting to swap.... Could be genuine but?.....

Im just looking to sell to get my cash back tbh, in between jobs at the moment and want to try and recoup as much of the money spent on the audi as I can. Already have a cheap rover lined up. The BMW with LPG appealed because of the instant savings on the fuel costs and potentially as an extra selling point over my own Audi.

The Peugeot ad makes the whole thing shady to me, based on what i can remember being told yesterday, but perhaps I picked it up wrong, although their own ad does seem to indicate the water pump and LPG were done recently.

Sounds like he had his eye on an Audi for a while but had to settle for the BMW. Now he's driving that until an A6 comes up.
The only strange thing is that he didn't fix the interior upholstery himself... given that that's his line of work.

I would try to find out why someone installed LPG conversion which costs quite big money, and wants to sell the car, even before running on LPG paid for this conversion.

    Smells fishy.

.....gosh, manual AND cloth seats in a 'premium' car......no wonder he can't sell it.

OP, the LPG is a ++

Why do lads not wash their cars before they take a picture to sell it! Hard to sell that BMW without first giving the fricking thing a good wash :D

Doubt you'll sell yours for €5500 tbh.

    A 2.4 petrol A6 isn't sought after.

Motor tax website shows that ownership on the BMW changed on 4th March 2013.

Just out of curiosity OP, how much is a full tank on that at the moment and how many miles do you get out of it?

If it was a diesel I might be interested myself, but I'm curious what the difference on the fuel/mileage cost would be vs the 2.0/3.0 TDI versions of your car as I'm hoping to change to an A6 in the near future and am torn on the petrol/diesel choice as my mileage isn't what it once was :)

Perhaps not but did have someone out to view it last week, didnt buy in the end but i would disagree on the price, selling at that price would make it the cheapest sale around for that particular model.

Em good question, im don't ever fill it up tbh, only done so once for a monster trip and its a big, big tank.

The consumption varies from not to so good in city driving/heavy traffic to pretty good on Motorways... anywho.. when i have calculated it (done on mixed driving), it comes in at just slightly under 10kms per litre. Iphone app here says thats 28 imperial MPG or 23 US MPG.

Not that I came on here to promote my car kaiser! But from what i see on carzone the same spec A6 seems to come in on average 2k more expensive, which itself would take a while to make up the difference. If you got the LPG on the A6, and a negotiated price, you would be getting a super deal :p.

If i get a job anytime soon may keep it and get the LPG thing done myself. The swap just doesnt seem right to be me, considering its only been owned a month and that much expense put into it. Il give the chap a call later and if see whats what, i wonder was the peugeot swapped for the BMW.

Cheers for that.. so roughly 700km per tank then?

I get around 1000km out of mine (2006 2.0 TDI Passat with the DSG box) depending on how heavy my right foot is ;) but that's not quite as bad as I thought for a 2.4 petrol.

    Don't suppose you fancy a swap? :p

Id say slightly less than 700 but roughly, again, i haven't been keeping too close an eye on it tbh, Knew what i was getting myself in for with the big engine etc.

PM sent to you, id be interested in having a gander at yours and a bit of info on the specs etc ;)...although DSG brings up some horror stories at first glance :/

Can't say mine has ever given any issues in the 5 years I've owned the car (7 years old) and I do a lot of driving in it.

My 4th auto and I'd never go back :)

Sorry, I meant, not much point in the swap.
