If car was manufactured in Dec 2008 and first registration was in 2009 which year is it ? Not sure if seller is pricing the car as 2009 when it should be 2008. Can you advise ?

    Registered in 2009, 09 reg.

Doesn't make a difference if it was built in 2007, its still 09 reg.

Uk has a different system where they have 2 registrations per year.
Are you buying the car to bring it to Ireland?

If its a January 09 car, it will have a UK 58 reg, not 09. But it will be 09 Irish reg if you bring it here.

Acc to OP the car was built in Dec 2008 which makes it MY2009.
The year it's registered in RoI will be the year on the plate, as you said.

OP, do you have a link we can have a look at?

one more thing how do I check VRT because I have 10 different versions of this car in vrt calculator

and he versions differ i.e. :

    SE 138BHP 04DR
    or
    SE 138BHP 4DR

VRT difference between these two is 600 euro. Is there any way to make sure what version it is so I know for sure what will I have to pay ?

You need to get the emissions figure from the V5 form and match that with the model on the revenue site.

Also if the car has extras, you may be taxed on them too. Generally its different co2 figures that cause discrepancies on the vrt site.

On premium cars up to 4 years old they can charge on extras, ie satnav, leather, bigger wheels etc.
if its just a trim like s line etc, they just charge based on that trim, but if there are extras that make it valuable, then that's taken into account.

Manual or Automatic affects value and CO2 as well....

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

    it 09 A6 2.0 TDI SE 140bhp manual

so if I understand correctly I get the car and will presume the vrt might be around 5k but most likely they charge me more for sat nav and whatever comes with the car...

Is it on autotrader, or where did you get the emissions figure from?

I didn't get the emissions yet. I just picked one of the versions available from the list in vrt calculator.

Ah cool. Get the actual figure from the v5 of the car before you do anything like placing a deposit etc. a motorcheck or cartell report gives you the figure afaik.
