    hi

I'm unable to get rid of a duplicate Wi-Fi connection, its driving me mad ive tried everything.

when I go to the place where you enter your ip address to bring up the setting etc, it just has the Wi-Fi connection that has a lcok on it and nothing else.

Ive tried deleting it from the pc and also resetting the router..that just changed the name to NETGEAR.

so Ive 1 connection with the lock on it and a duplicate that has no lock..

id appreciate any advice. ive tried everything that I could find by googling the problem. im thinking of ringing my provider not sure if theyd be able to help.

    thanks

    probably a silly question but:

are you sure its not just another unsecured wi-fi access point in range?

if it isnt: are there any options in the netgear router for a secondary wi-fi connection? possibly soem form of "guest" lan ?

Does your system have any settings set for connection sharing? maybe the laptop/desktop is acting as an access point / relay and thats what your picking up?

(some details on the operating system / model of Netgear / ISP / system / OS wireless management or third party software would be useful).
