Is there a known method for refitting these or should i be compressing the spring some way? Routing at it this couple hours and getting nowhere with it.

    is this your tensioner?

Before installing it, try compressing the spring and cable tie it in place. Affix it to the block and cut the tie.

    Yeah thats the one...

I tried cable ties and metal jublee clips to compress it but man it takes some pressure to do so and the ties just snap and clips bust open, ive tried a few home made bolt through the middle and use drill to compress still no good

If you remove the pulley, can you get more leverage on it?

One of the Corsa forums makes mention of priming the locking pin with oil and also using an allen key to lock it (using it as a pin maybe).

Cant believe this thing is a real pig to replace.

I had to remove the pulley then I sat the spring on the plate connected to the engine, otherwise i cant get the spring to fit at all, it seems i need to compress the spring right down but cant think how when there is very little room to work with
