minimum qualifications required to work as a psych in IE

    Thanks in advance for your advice.

    Can you please tell me what are the minimum qualifications required to work as a psychologist (clinical / counselling) in Ireland?

    I am a UK citizen. Currently enrolled on a DPsych (Clinical) since 2009 in Australia. I have well over 3000 supervised practise hours. Have completed all placements and course works, currently work in private practise. I may move across to a MSc in Clinical Psychology because of the time the DPsych is taking. I already have a MSc Psychology (BPS).

    Hello!

    You need a doctorate in clinical or counselling psychology (depending on which profession you which to work in).

    You can not be a clinical/counselling psychologist with a masters (irrelevant of who accredits it). If you wish to work in Ireland you will need to have your doctorate qualification accredited by our professional body here - the psychological society of Ireland http://www.psihq.ie/

    Hi - I'd advise contacting the PSI (Psychological Society of Ireland) to check this. I tried to find a link to something relevant on their website but failed. Anyway, it's www.psihq.ie if you want to have a look.
