Chapelizod To Finglas?

I have a trainability test at FÁS in Finglas this Thursday and I'll be coming from Lucan and was just wondering the best route is. I'll be heading down the N4 onto Chapelizod Road but from there Google Maps is giving two very different routes for driving and walking.

The driving route is a little longer but is nowhere near as windy as the walking route and I'd prefer not to have to go through housing estates and the like, I'd imagine the road surfaces are crap. If there anywhere near as bad as Ballyfermot Road is I'd rather go an extra kilometer or so.

This is the driving route and this is the walking route. Any input from anyone who has cycled this area? Any tight spots, poor roads, bus lanes?

the driving route is a hell of a lot straighter and has less interuptions for a cycle as you're on main roads the whole way, all that Finglas Rd has cycle lanes and bus lanes. The only alteration I'd make is at the end in Finglas Village to go up the Main St and take a right at The Drake and then then back onto the route and straight up Jamestown Rd. From Phibsboro and Glasnevin to the Tolka is easy and downhill but from the Tolka river to Finglas and upto Poppintree is a constant incline so be prepared

I always find that part of the NCR a bit tight with cars parked on both sides. You could continue along the quays, take a left on to Church St. and it's a straight run out from there.

The cycle track is very narrow (and shared with pedestrians) along the N2, but there a bus lane from Glasnevin Cemetery if you prefer.

Driving route. Just follow signs for the N2.
