    Hi all.
The central locking on my car won't unlock the passenger door. Is this an NCT fail?
The lock works manually and the drivers door works fine.
    Cheers.

Prob depends who is testing the car tbh
But i'd imagine it would be a fail if they notice it

Apologies for piggybacking on the thread but I have a similar problem with a Hyundai Getz. It has alarm and central locking operated from a fob but sometimes (most of the time now) it will lock itself again after a few minutes and then only the driver's door will open with the fob. All locks will open centrally with the key.
The local dealer wants 85 euro just to put it on the diagnostic machine but I think that's a rip off.
Is there any way I can disarm the electric central locking and alarm, just for the day?

I fail to understand how they could fail a car because of this. The whole NCT thing is a scam.

No mention of it in the NCT manual
    http://www.ncts.ie/NCT%20Manual%20Revise%20May%202012.pdf

Only seem worried about the Doors actually opening and closing properly, i.e. the latches rather than the locks.
The only mention of security in this section is the steering wheel lock

You should be fine. They could potentially fail it but it's not likely.

no this wouldn't fail, just unlock the door before the test begins.

We all know the TV licence is a scam so presumably your giving credit to poster for spotting state scams

    :D

I actually completely forgot to post a follow-up in that thread, will have to do so later on.

Anyways, I am absolutely delighted to officially announce that eventually I appealed the case and won in the criminal court of justice in Dublin on the 25th of October last year. No solicitor involved at all, just me, a Polish lad in front of the judge, winning with the state.

Your post is a fail, I am sorry to say. You'll have to dig deeper.

Sorry Biko but not even a potential fail. They don't test the actual locking of the doors just the catch (to ensure the doors stay securely closed for safety).
Apart from that what about all those cars that don't have central locking ?

Sound, I wasn't sure if it comes under the "operating the doors normally".
Herself's Micra has a similar issue with the C/L and it's never been failed on it.
