    Monitor here

It has no DVI = Fail

It's a pretty standard monitor apart from the styling, you can get better for the price.

Would HDMI not be better than DVI?

From my experience hdmi on a pc is worse quality than dvi.

Don't know if it was an isolated case.. but I was trying to figure out why the text looked crap, switching from hdmi to dvi solved it.

The "quality" is exactly the same, it's a digital signal. However HDMI seems to have scaling issues whenever I use it - it doesn't fill the screen properly and needs manual adjustment. Is this what you are talking about? I think that's a bug with AMD drivers.

That seems like a good monitor, cheaper too.

No, it filled the screen properly, the text just looked poor quality. It was the first time I had used hdmi on a monitor and noticed it immediately. Seems to be a common problem if you google it. Went back to dvi and everything was fine. I didn't spend too long trying to solve it though..

It's better to just stick to dvi unless you need to use speakers on the monitor.

The only time that happens is with a high resolution monitor, hdmi can't handle high resolutions so falls back to lower ones.

Hardly anyone has a high resolution monitor tho (1440p or 1600p). With a normal 1080p it makes no difference.

Also, the same happens with DVI. You need dual-link DVI (or even better: displayport) for higher resolutions.

HDMI is perfectly fine for most people.

It's a good monitor for the money. The screen is top quality using the latest ah-ips panels.

DisplayPort is HDMI. They transmit exactly the same signal (video-wise, anyway). The only difference is that DP doesn't require the manufacturer to pay royalties to Sony. ;)

Not correct. There are many versions of both, the old versions of hdmi (which is what you will commonly find) can't do high res.

Same signal sure, but lack of bandwidth is difference.
