Travel Insurance question

    Hello,

I am trying to sort out travel insurance for my partner who is on the 1 year work visa in Australia. We will be traveling around a few different countries in SE Asia for a month or so and I have gotten my own insurance easily as I live in Ireland. She is living in Australia currently.

My problem is that a few of the insurance companies I have looked at say you need to be resident in Ireland for the last 6 months to be covered by them. The Australian insurance companies (which are way more expensive) also say she needs to be a citizen or permanent resident, and have full access to medicare system in Australia (she doesn't have full, she has the absolute basic under the reciprocal health care policies of Ireland and Australia) so I'm between a rock and hard place and can't seem to get any cover.

Can anyone suggest how I would get some travel insurance for her in this situation - I would not feel comfortable with her traveling in some of the countries we are visiting without full cover.

    Thanks

Do a search on here and in the independent travel forum, this has come up a few times recently and it seems there are only a couple of companies doing it.
