I know if I was going for the race with gen admission, it would have to be Kemmel Straight for the start before the breaking point into Les Combs!

I'm going for the full weekend and Friday is going to be used to find the sweet spot during practice etc.

That's the plan :D Will be camping closest to Les Combes so can check the Kemmel Straight round as far as Pouhon handy enough. Thursday is for drinking, Friday for checking the track, Saturday and Sunday for a lot of sitting and drinking :P

Les Combes looks like a good place to be as the cars will be reaching top speed going down the Kemmel straight before braking into Les Combes.

we were at the bus stop chicane in 07 and loved the sound of them down shifting before the echoing sound up the main straight. stay clear of the portaloo's if you can though.:)

A long while since I was there

I'm looking at the course online and Turn 9 is a great place to view.
    http://www.formula1.com/races/in_detail/belgium_904/

The cars come out of Rivage and then turn left and need to lay down the power.

Some can do it well but the weaker cars go sliding. Forti-Fords back then, now I feel old!
You are on a very steep hill looking down on the cars below.

I had a general admission ticket Friday & Sunday and I upgraded to a grandstand ticket for the race and was at Turn 13.
I don't think it was the best grandstand, just a straightforward part of the course.
The only driver who was fighting the car and giving the fans something to see was Jean Alesi.

General admission should be fine for you to find a good spot.
When the TV commentators talk about changeable weather they aren't lying! Torrential rain and then 1 hour later the sun blasting down.

You saw the Forti's race in 1995  Awesome!

I remember when the bikes raced there. I had a super-pass and was able to watch practice from the inside of La Source and the races from the Uniroyal Tower or wherever I wanted.

    Good times!

(Just assume it will rain and rain hard - you won't go far wrong then)

Never been to an f1 race before, thinking of making my debut at spa this year. Just wondering, what sort of accommodation is best, camping at the official campsite or one of the others in the area. Also, is it best to buy the tickets off the f1 website or the circuit site? Thanks

Buy the tickets off the circuit its cheaper and the earlier you do it the more cheaper it is.

Returning for the 3rd year running this year (gen adm), cannot wait. Watched the race itself from the bank at the outside of Pouhon, gives a good view of a nice stretch of the track from there. For practice and quali we just move about the place a bit. Prepare for plenty of walking but in a brilliant setting, wherever you plan to watch the race from get there early for a good position. Here's hoping the weather will be as sweet as last year but also make sure and come well prepared for the possibility of rain :D

Was at the track two weeks ago, took a detour en route to Le Mans the second I saw a sign post for Spa-Francorchamps with a chequered flag on it!-it's a stunning place and even with no body on track it looked immense. Make sure you drive around the old track it was a great experience and there's parts of it that you will instantly recognise from photos of the 50s, 60s and 70s

Ya, think I'm set on going now. As regards the logistics, Brussels is the best to fly into I suppose? Probably stay at the eau rouge campsite nearby, seems pretty ok.
