Hey everyone, i am looking for some advise please. I am in 2 minds at the minute....what would you buy if you wanted a good reliable comfortable car that will be doing 500 miles per week.

    A 2008 A4 SE 2.0 tdi or a 2007 A6 2.0 tdi S Line model ?

The only real difference there is personal taste.

The A6 should feel more comfortable when cruising due to the slightly longer wheelbase, and being S-line has a chance of having more toys as standard. The S-line suspension on the A6 may be more harsh than you'd like, but it's a personal taste whether it is too much or not. For me it isn't.

Personally, I'd take the A6 every day. even with any tax difference, but then again I'm looking at changing my A4 to a 3.0l tdi A6 estate..

I suggest you drive both. If comfort is your main requirement then you may not be happy with the firmness of the S Line suspension over the standard SE suspension.

Isn't the 2007 A6 the older 2.0 PD engine that gave trouble and the 2008 A4 the one with the newer CR engine? If the case, I'd have the A4.

2.0 PD engine was supposed to be quite poor especially in the longer wheelbase VAG cars due to how the engine was located in the engine bay AFAIK.

oh really? i cant understand how after yrs of production these germans cant build a non troublesome engine.

i was looking at the 525 & 520d BMW's but the 2008 have timing issues nd 2008 under have injector nd swirl flap nd turbo issues.
