And I thought UPC had improved customer service....

No UPC signal last night, I thought it might be an area problem so tried the TV again when I got home this evening and then called UPC, nothing they could do remotely and the earliest they can schedule a technician for is Monday:mad: I pay around €100 per month and I'll have no TV let alone sport all weekend. This will be the second STB they will replace in 6 months.... Not a happy customer at all.

For those that know, do Sky supply more robust decoders/STB's/Media boxes (or whatever they are called these days) Even when the UPC box is working it does some crazy things like turn the volume on for a few seconds when you have it muted, change the channel when you are trying to increase the volume etc. etc.

Dont know who told you their customer service improved its still appalling. Same thing happened to me a while back rang them spent 25 mins turning box off and on whilst talking to what the hilariously call tech support to be told engineer can come out tuesday this was on the thursday of a bank holiday weekend. I remember a few years ago on the radio a woman, Australian I think, was taking over some top job in UPC and said she was aware of their terrible reputation in customer service, she said that she would be sorting that out. One can only assume she has by now quit in shame.

Despite being absolutely assured it was not an area problem, I arrived back at the house this morning to find three, yes three, UPC vans.... It was an area fault and in fairness to the guys they had it sorted in 15 minutes. Probably different types of crews but it's no wonder it takes four days to schedule an engineer when they are sending three vans out to the one call:confused:
