I lived on campus in the river apartments for all three years and thought it was great.

Apparently the most expensive place to live in all of Maynooth but the security and lack of messing with landlords is so worth it.

Also the walk to college in the mornings is so short, you're close to the library and all amenities all the time.

I think on campus is the best option.

When you say three housing options do you mean the three on-campus options (i.e. Village, River or Rye)?

If so, I will always be a Village girl. It's cheaper than the other two, far better than Rye (though that isn't hard!) and the only real advantage that I can see with River is en-suite bathrooms which never really bothered me. They also did Village up last year.

Sorry, dont mean to hijack the thread but Im just wondering whats the rules regarding having friends from other colleges staying over for the night? Like is it totally not allowed, or allowed, or does it depend on a number of things?

There was never an issue with having people stay over when I lived on campus. You're supposed to let someone in the office know that you've a guest staying (in case there's a fire or something, just so they can make sure everyone is out of the building), but I don't think anyone really ever did that :p However, it's been nearly 3 years since I lived on campus so things could be different now - maybe some of the people who've lived there more recently might know better!

I think you're /supposed/ to let someone know, but I used to stay with my boyfriend in rye two or three nights a week last year and nobody ever said a thing or checked or anything.

The above is all true but do be warned that they have gotten stricter on campus in the past year. You should be fine though.
