Dell DataSafe Local Backup on Inspiron

I recently wiped my laptop but took a backup on my external HDD using Dell Datasafe local Backup. However when I open the .exe file and choose to load the backup, it loads to 100% but then says that the operation has failed, and when I go to log it says "The device is not ready". Does anyone have any experience with this?
