Are there any? There are some great games on the console; RDR; Skyrim, etc. But any decent strategy games?

Valkyria Chronicles would be classed as a Strategy RPG.

Have a look and see if it's for you:

+1 for Valkyria Chronicles. The combat system is easily broken but with a bit of nuzlocking it requires a lot more thought.

XCom is also brilliant and should definitely scratch your tactical itch.

Avoid the Agarest games, they're quite poor as far as combat mechanics go.

Then there's the 2 Disgaea games which are supposed to be decent if thats your cup of tea.

A bit of a longshot would be Bladestorm. I'm a strategy fan and I found it to be great. It's like a much deeper Dynasty Warriors.

If you're looking for an RTS, R.U.S.E is the best on console for my money, tho not if you're after a decent story. Can be picked up quite cheaply.

    +1 for Valkyria Chronicles

Xcom. Stays as true to the original. You can make the game very unforgiving it becomes a matter of how long you can last not if you can finish it. Best strategy game on Ps3.

Excellent, I thought the new XCOM was an FPS. So it's like the original?

The FPS has been delayed for awhile and will be reannounced soon as a "tactical fps" called "The Bureau".

XCom Enemy Unknown has received alot of praise from veteran Xcom players and even the guys who made the original. Its success is why the fps has been delayed because its what the fans wanted more. Its as close a port from the original with modern touches.

Here's a link to a fun Xcom lets pay on the hardest difficulty.

just got xcom, its pretty good, not a patch on the original, I feel I am being shepherded through the game. unless this is a very lengthy tutorial.

Normal is for 1st timers. Classic gets more challenging. Impossible is impossible. Ironman mode is the only way to play it! More difficulty modifiers are unlocked in every level of difficulty (Second Wave) options.

Yes the tutorial is quite lenghty. They really hold your hand which is good for newcomers.

I'm on my 3rd play through on classic ironman.

What I don't like is that helmets and colour palettes are dlc. :(

ha! good good. There is alot of game for your money here.

The multiplayer is excellent, one of the best I've played. Definitely give it a go.
Doesn't matter when you start either, everyone is on a level playing field.

The time constraint per turn works really well and you never know what sort of team you're going to face.
