Hmmm... I would be the one who back in the day shouted about doom and gloom about 3ds. I have to admit now, that they turned around 3ds and it is ,y favourite handheld of all times now. It is bursting with good games now. With some fantastic few games coming out in near future too. Those game sales on 3ds are quite great! In fairness, I could not recommend 3ds more to gamers and I am complete ignorant bastard when it comes to hardcore Nintendo franchises!

As for Wii u. Well it needs games like 3ds. Some how I am getting more optimistic after such a turn around with 3ds.

How could your body not be ready for Reggie staying? Great news!

Wii U is doing exactly the same as the 3DS in its first 5/6 months, poorly. But that doesn't mean it's a flop, it's just early days so give it time. Die Hard Nintendo fans will buy a new Nintendo console on day one and then after Nintendo make a strategic price cut along with a big game announcement the casual gamer will follow. The 'intelligent' gamer will wait a good year to 2 years after launch whether to pick up any new console. I'm personally waiting for a new Zelda announcement and will probably pick up an exclusive Zelda bundle.

Does anyone else think it's a strange decision for Nintendo not to be having a major presence at E3 this year?

Unless they had some huge announcements, they were always going to be overshadowed and drowned out by the PS4 and new XBox.

The media and majority of gamers believe they are not in the same catgorey

They are better off doing the nintendo directs and just show casing to their audience.

In fairness past few years of e3 have been dreadful.

You generate more buzz from youtube imo

By having hands-on stuff with no direct show for the Net punters you create (hopefully) a mystique and you-hadda-be-there journo buzz that should feed into continued coverage, speculation and self-generating hype that should last long after the event is over, all without being seen to lose out to Sony and MS
