American Airlines

    Hi,
I've recently purchased flights with American Airlines over the phone. I gave them all my details and assumed once everything [money] went through I'd get an email.
Couple of days later, I still didn't get any email.
Rang them up today, and they said that my ticket is in a queue ... and that I would get an email 2 weeks before departure [At this time, I would pay for my flight]

I'm wondering, does this happen often?
I've never experienced it before ... it seems slightly weird!

Can anyone help clear my mind??

The "two weeks before departure" line sounds strange. However, AA did have a major computer failure last week (all flights were grounded while they fixed it) and I suspect they are still recovering from that.

If you go to aa.com and find your reservation, the status should be shown near the top. If it says something like "Ticket Pending" then you are in the queue.

Very odd. Ticketing can sometimes take a while, but this is a pretty long window.

Might be worth sticking the details in on https://www.aa.com/reservation/findReservationSubmit.do and see what the reservation says.

Do you mind me asking why you decided to make the booking by phone rather than on the internet?

I kept getting an error 9201 message when I either tried to purchase or hold the tickets. Rang up to investigate, and the customer support lad said they were experiencing problems with their online service.
It turned out to be 50euro cheaper over the phone, so i was thrilled!

On request normally means they're waiting for another airline to come back to them. Does the flight involve another airline other than American? It normally shouldn't take so long. Have you called them again? It does seem like something has got stuck somewhere along the way.
