Replacing exhaust rear box - how?

For the last NCT the rear box was welded back on, the repair lasted a year and its gone again just before the NCT is due, this time I'd as soon as replace it as have it welded up a second time.

Now my question is the original exhaust system is all on one piece that is pipe>middle box>pipe>end box>tail pipe and the Bosal replacement part is just for the rear (or middle) box, and I want to know if I have to have it welded in place? I was hoping I just cut off the old rear section at a specific point then the new box will fit over it and clamp in position or is that just wishful thinking?

Car is a Volkswagen as 02 Polo 1.4 Sal 4dr 60bhp Saloon so nothing special.

Edit> I was looking at the part online and it gives no real indication of how its attached.

You can use an exhaust pipe joiner when fitting the new silencer, if it does'nt have a preformed socket.

After much searching online I found that I also need to order a pipe joiner. One of the confusing bits was that the location for the joiner is just between two sharp bends in the pipe and I didn't think there was room for it, then the sites that had large full parts diagrams didn't list my car and 4 different Bosal part numbers related to exactly the same pictures. Parts ordered from autofastfitcarparts.com who were at least 25% cheaper than micksgarage. Now only time will tell if that was a wise buying decision.
