I have only been smoking cigars for a year. Even at that its only one or two every 3 months or so. I also love my whiskey and would consider myself quite knowledgeable on it. However trying to find like-minded individuals and get regular get togethers going is quite frustrating. I know the guys at cigar.ie go every now and then to McGrattan. None of my mate smoke cigars, and you know what its like yourself, you don’t want to destroy a great cigar by standing out in the cold and trying to burn it down in 10 mins to keep pace with your mates. Am I missing something here or are there cigar clubs/societies that I can go to?

You are more than welcome to join us (cigars.ie) in our herfs in McGrattans every month.

We are all guys that share the same interest as yourself and McGrattans is a great place to smoke, even in cold nights. The guys there couldn't be more helpful looking after us and making sure they have the table beside the fire reserved for us every time.

There is no formalities or whatsoever, everyone is welcome, just bring your own cigars! Our next one will be on early May, possibly after the bank holiday, I can let you know if you want to come along.

i'm surprised that none of the three cigar stores in dublin have sampling areas - i love going into the sampling room of pgc hajenius in amsterdam. also been in Sautters of london............

Unfortunately, there are no exceptions in the smoking ban for tobacco specialist stores in Ireland. In the UK they have an exemption, so cigar stores can have a "sampling" room. Funny enough, smoking a cigarette in the "sampling" rooms of the UK cigar stores is against the law!
