    Is €350 a crazy price?

    Seems very high to me.

Also how much does it cost to replace a rear ABS sensor?

for both jobs ive been quoted close to €500 (including labour)

Not very clear what you are getting here for your money?

    What model is it?

Are they replacing Disks also ? For pads and a sensor alone it sounds high but if its on a Maserati well then it sounds good :)

    peugeot 307

    Seems unusually high.

Rear disks on that car are a pain because they have the wheel bearing built in, but all pads and discs shouldn't be that much. ABS sensor and fitting shouldn't be too much.

Depends on the car. The brake disks on some french cars are integrated with the wheel bearings so you have to get a complete unit. I know thats the case with some Renaults and Citroens and those units are around 260. It's one of the many reasons why I'll never buy another French car! If its the same for Peugeot €350 for the unit, pads and installation is reasonable, but still horrific at the same time

IIRC, I was charged ~125e to replace an ABS Sensor on my 407 at a Peugeot Garage. You could get an ABS Sensor for ~20e on eBay and do it yourself if you're handy, but on the 407 a Rear sensor change requires the fuel tank to be dropped a little as there is a groove on the top of the tank that the cable sits in, not sure about the 307 though.

are you getting pads front and back? are they changing discks?

for just one set of pads 70 would be normal,

not sure about the 307, like iway said, the tank has to be dropped a wee bit on the 407, dont know if the 307 is the same

how and ever abs sensors arent fun on any of the pugs, sensor could be 60-100, pads 35-40 ish for 1 set.

again what exactly ae you getting done?

its actually rear break pads and disk replacement.

And one rear ABS sensor, for the light appearing on the dash

again im not sure about the 307. but id imagen the discs and bearings come as one unit, and they can be pricy.

theres a 307 in tomorow for a front link so il have a peep and see what the sensor is like to do,

but id imagen thats not a bad price tbh.

Ive been quoted €50 for the sensor by another mechanic ive gone with

Hes my usual mechanic, hes gunna do me a better price than quoted by the last place anyway

I was out of town, stop light was flashing on the dash so needed to get it into a local mechanic before driving it home pretty much. got that sorted.

ah sure it has to be done

No harm shopping around for best price and all that, in hindsight the quote may not be that outlandish, but my usual mechanic will give me a better price so im better off

ya very tru, if you have a usual mechanic and he know what hes at, stay with him, esp if he looks after ya.

do you know if the sensor for 50e was just labour or suply and fit?

Rear sensors for 307s are €75 plus VAT off Peugeot (or were the last time I bought one a few years back) so €50 for supply and fit sounds very cheap. Make sure the problem is properly diagnosed before paying for a new sensor though. There are a couple of other common problems that can look like a sensor problem but turn out not to be. I know because I learned the hard way. This is why I have a €75 ABS sensor sitting on the shelf for the past few years :pac:

There seems to be 2 different models out there for the 04 1.6hdi.

    http://www.micksgarage.com/braking-parts/brake-discs/peugeot/307/307/2000-onwards/1.6-hdi-110/17989/

A disc with no hub (6 holes - 4 for wheel nuts, 2 to mount disc to hub) €52 a pair
    A disc with a fixed hub. €123 a pair

had one in today so had a quick peep at the sensor, seem a fairly easy straight forward change, al is there and fairly accesable, hadnt the rear wheels off so dont know what sort of setup the rear dics are.
