Failing A Module

    Hi everyone,

I have a simple question - in regards to a Fetac Level 5 or Level 6 course, what is the procedure for situations in which a module is failed?

Can the module be repeated on its own, without having to repeat the course. I understand that instead of gaining a major certificate, you get a component certificate if a module is failed, but can you repeat modules to gain a major cert??

    Really confusing, can anybody help?

If you are unsuccessful in a module then you can opt to re-do the module, whether you have to re-sit the module or just re-do the assignments etc that depends on the centre where you did the module in the first place. There are no repeat exams etc. If you opt to do the module in a new centre then you will have to start from the beginning again and complete their assessments. It all depends on the centre's QA agreement with FETAC/QQAI.

Be aware that if you are using the FETAC award to progress to college for a Level 7 or 8 degree then you need to get your full award in one sitting and failing a mandatory module or a module you need to get the award would mean that you did not do this.

Ideally you should have been warned during the course that you were not on target to achieve the module. Talk to your centre and see what the story is and see how they can help.
