    Hi,

I got a tiling job done and i paid without seeing the end result...stupidly.I did see the first couple of days work and it was fine so assumed he would finish up fine...he didnt. We got mosaic tiles done and put on the side panel of the bath, there is huge gaps between the tiles and it is very uneven.

i saw this guy on pickapro.ie and he got all types of beaming references but his work was bad.Im going to complain to that site but i want to know ,have i any comeback.Ive tried calling but he wont answer or return calls.im very p1ssed off to say the least.

can anything be done in this case?

    thanks

Try calling him from another number.

To be honest you probably have little comeback. You paid him in full before you'd seen the final result.

Definitely tell the site about him though. I normally only get work done from people I know or who have done work for friends.

Hope he does get back to you...it's not a decent way to conduct business.

    Hi Daymol
It's horrible when this happens. Paying him up front was a mistake. Always hold a sum as security. I had a friend in the same position as yourself. The way we overcame it was to text the man done the job, telling him unless he finished the work, your are going to send him a post card outlining the shabby work he had done etc etc. No one wants that publicity especially when a postman + will read it. That sort of news travels fast believe me. If he respects his reputation you will get the job done. Be there when he comes back and over see the einish

    Hope this might help.

Ps give him a time to respond then send the card

    Sorry to hear that OP.
He is only as good as his last job spread the word.
I recently went back to a job I done in 2005 and sorted out the problem, only minor but again that's the way it should be.
Hope he does the right thing by you.

Sorry to hear that. Its guys like him that give us good guys a bad name. Heres a few simple rules to hiring a tiler..1) If their good they will have a business card with a land line number as well as a mobile number. 2) Any tradesman worth his salt will have an endless list of previous clients who will be only happy to recommend his work. 3) Unfortunately, as a result of the celtic tiger, most (but not all) tilers under 30yrs of age have limited experience in high end tiles such as porcelain, marble, mosaic etc due to the bulk of their apprentiship spent on new built houses only incorporating splash backs over baths and sinks. 4) Every good tiler will have a folder of photos of previous work. 5) Last but not least..Dont pick the cheapest quote as in most cases if you pay peanuts you will get monkeys.
