Seventy new jobs have been announced at the sales solutions company, CPM.

The positions are being rolled out nationwide.

The company specialises in helping clients to deliver sales targets.

It works with some of Ireland's leading companies in the telecoms, energy, and charity sectors.

Sounds like door to door sh*t to me.

Having had experience with CPM in the past, I can honestly tell you there are pros and cons to this work.

Cons - door to door sh!te as mentioned, in all weathers. Their big clients are eircom and bord gais in that area. It is usually the 'winback' sales they are doing - so basically calling to houses trying to get people to sign up. However, they also have contracts with FMCG companies, such as Dolmio and Diagio. They also have contracts with Sony and warner. So not all their sales are door to door. And they also have B2B sectors.

In addition, they also employ the sales admin staff for many of the clients, so they might also have office based jobs.

Pros - if you have the knack for sales, then as sales companies go, they are good to work for. I know of several people who pulled in very healthy salaries working for CPM, and gained a lot of sales experience. Some also went on to get jobs directly with the company they were outsourced to (eg eircom, bord gais etc). I saw people struggle and literally die from exhaustion trying to hit sales targets, but equally I saw people who had the flair for sales and very quickly moved up the ladder to manager, county manager, regional manager etc. Decent company cars, extra BIK items like decent laptops, phones, expenses etc. So if you genuinely can sell, you can make money and do well.

Having said that, I'd rather eat my own leg than do it! lol
