Basically what it says on the tin :)

anyone know the fare for Dundalk to Balbriggan pre-10am return?

The tickets tool on the CIE website says these cannot be booked online and subsequently does not display a price.

Trying to calculate if buying a tax-saver ticket (which only works from Balbriggan in) is worth switching over to from Mathews coaches

Cheers @n97_mini, didnt know that existed.

Turns out even with the LUAS included in the taxsaver ticket, the coach makes the journey about €150 cheaper!

That is if I am right in my reading of the taxsaver website that taxsaver Dublin rail tickets of any permutation only go for the "short-hop" zone?

Even with the point to point rail tickets Im saving about €60 a month... I guess if I was planning on travelling for more than 6 months the savings would start getting better by buying the yearly ticket, but thats a lot of money up front when job security for 365 days is not guaranteed...

This should help you along the way. You can purchase a monthly taxsaver ticket which covers you into Dublin and intermediate trips in between.

The Irish Rail Taxsaver Office will sell you almost any adult ticket or combination of adult tickets on an annual or monthly basis.
