I have 6 points; 2 expire in June.
Should I wait until June before getting insured?

A further 2 points expire in January. Will the insurance company acknowledge this with a reduction?

Do insurance companies keep a record of your penalty points history?

4 points most likely won't affect your policy whereas 6 would, so yes you might be better off waiting if you can. Try get some online quotes with 4 and 6 points and see if there is much of a difference.

I don't think they will take your points expiring mid-policy into account.

One Direct wanted 400 euro more yes 400 euro for 2 points where as AXA were cheaper than the price I got last year on a newer car!

€400 for just 2 points is outrageous, unless you were getting a big discount initially for having no points?

Never lie to an Insurer. I've seen the consequences of doing so too many times.
Declare the truth to all insurers and hunt down the best quote available for your circumstances
