Hey guys been suffering with dermatitis over the years it has never gotten that bad but at the same time it is quite annoying. i got it from working with steel and cutting compound as an foolish apprentice who didnt wear gloves when i should have. my hands would resemble this photo but thankfully not as bad yet http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jdnycK18P4g/TjcJP-1butI/AAAAAAAAWrE/qJv635nU_wQ/s1600/hand-dermatitis-picture.jpg
Over the years i have been to the doctors and got hand cream and gel and have worked for the short term. just wondering what ye guys use? and can it ever be treated? because just when i think it can it reappears on my hands. would love to hear of anyone else in the same boat. thanks.:D

I started having hand dermatitis a few years ago. At first it was just the itchy red bumps but over the past few months its gotten dry and flaky and itchy, a bit like eczema. I bought a tube of Irritable skin balm online from Moo Goo the other day and I've already noticed an improvement. It's natural stuff and doesn't smell strongly. Its designed for dermatitis and psoriasis etc. Absorbs very quickly and doesn't thin the skin like steroid creams can.

It soothes the itchiness within a few minutes as well. You can get it in some chemists but its cheaper online and mine arrived fairly fast. My own chemist was charging more for the smaller size than it cost to buy the larger size direct from the company. I find washing my hands makes it worse and humidity is a nightmare. Touch wood that this is the solution for me.

thanks very much for the info i blame myself in my younger years for not wearing gloves as i was in contact a lot with steel and cutting compounds as an apprentice industrial electrician. thanks so much i am going to order it as my hands are quite bad at the min and the stuff i got off the doc is not great:D

coconut oil might help you. can get 500ml of it for 5 euro in dunnes,superquinn,supervalu.. cocowel brand. a tub oughta last you months if you're only using it as a moisturiser.

I know what you mean, I had to use a lot of strong cleaning products years ago and didn't always have gloves so it took its toll on my hands. A lot of things I tried to moisturise my hands only made things worse but this stuff seems to be doing the trick. The stuff my gp gave me didn't help much either.
