Saw this on Waterford City Centre's facebook page.

"Fantastic News today from New Street/Applemarket Car Park on a Rate REDUCTION! Only €1 per hour every Friday from 6pm to 10pm and Saturdays €1 per hour from 8am to 12 noon in addition to €1.40 per hour Tuesday & Thursday Offer."

"€1 per HOUR parking is available in Waterford City Centre and ALL DAY parking for as little as €3.20. Check out these car parks and talk with your cars whilst we lobby and campaign for the other Car Park Prices to be reduced :) USE Railway Square Car Park, New Street/Applemarket Car Park, Miller's Marsh Car Park, Bolton Street Car Park. Please like & Share and let as many people know as possible that €1 per hour Car Parking is available in Waterford City"

    Good to see this happening.

I've been parking in Bolton ST for the last while, you really notice the drop in car park charges, much more lightly to try on clothes and go for coffee when you run into town.

Will be interesting to see the effect that this has on people walking around the city, hopefully now we'll start seeing a revival with measures like this and with the investment in the centre

Yeah, I've always said the price of parking is a good reason to move countries.

dzilla was highlighting the banality of writing comments like: i was in such and such place and i got parking for £1, drink for this, food for that price. Parking is decent value in Waterford compared with rest of Ireland but there is always someone who will complain even if it was 10c for the day. The constant stream of people complaining about everything on their doorstep, im inclined to say why dont you move somewhere else then too.

In fairness to the poster who mentioned Birmingham, they are new to boards, its not like they've been involved in this 'constant stream of criticism' and there was no big criticism of Waterford's parking in the post from what I could see anyway. Merely an observational comparison.

Their only crime seemed to be not elaborating on their point.

dzilla's reaction was both OTT and childish. This is a discussion board after all.

I wouldn't say Waterford parking is decent value. 2 examples that are better value are McDonagh Junction and Dundrum. Get the Quay down to a euro an hour and we'll see a big improvement.
