If you're thinking of selling on the current shifters and they are 10x2 let me know :P

105 is the obvious next step but I say aim higher, see if you can get a secondhand set of Ultegra or Dura-Ace in the adverts subforum.

105 doesn't feel much different to tiagra to me, in terms of shifting anyway. But I might just be mad.

What benefits from an upgrade are you looking for?

You won't really gain anything by upgrading Tiagra shifters. You mightn't want to hear this but you will most likely be wasting your time and money

Getting a new handlebar and I want to route the cables along it. Im tempted to go double tap with something like sram rival/force or if I can afford it Red. The centaur/chorus has caught my eye aswel, but Id like some feedback with the completely different shift setup

The shifters I have now don't feel very precise, and with the miles Im putting into them an upgrade is warranted :)

Well, you'd have to buy two new derailluers as well if you switch to sram and if you switched to campag you'd need an entire new groupset!

Seem to be going fairly cheap second hand so Im not too fussed! If its not worth upgrading I may not, but its good to get a few opinions :)

Sram shifters work perfectly fine with Shimano derailleurs.

If you can afford them get dura ace. If you can't get Ultegra and so on.

    they/them/theirs

    No.

They will work, but they won't work very well.

The pull ratio is different, so shifting will be very inconsistent.

Force shifter, 105 FD, perfect shifting, every time.

    Perhaps the RD is different.

completely untrue, make sure you avoid the logic of this comment. i had full sram red and sram force. to be fair, my bikes go through the wars with big milage and crap roads but ive got everything except red chainsets sold because i just find, a few things bad about.

there shifters get annoying after the novelty wears off

the RD's jockey wheels wear fast

sram red ti front derailleurs wear after 1000 or 2000km because theyre really only made for pro use and not practical.

stay shimano of you want practicality and best bang for your buck. even 105 ****ers click nicely. the better campagnolo ones do as well but if your under budget, dont buy into it.

ive too brand i avoid that ill never go near again though for their faults which are so basic 1. sram and 2. zipp for piss poor rims

When it's only changing between 2 rings, you're not going to notice it as much as when it's shifting between 10 tough, in fairness :P

Everything I've read or heard says that trying to index a mix of Shimano Derailleurs and Sram Shifters is a nightmare!

its impossible to index them right. you need a j tek shiftmate if you want to do it.

they pull cable at different ratios; sram known for its 1:1 pull ratio with shimano pulling some number that wont match up. of course all 10speed derailleurs from all brands are compatible

This won't necessarily improve shifting, if anything the shifting may be slightly worse as your cables go through more and tighter bends.

Sounds like you just need change your inner and outer cables. Will feel like new if you do this.

I set my 10 speed tiagra up the other week and shifting is absolutely spot on. Try changing cables and setting them up yourself.
