Vents

I'm currently in the middle of renovating an old property.
Installed central heating, new windows, insulation and drylined the internal walls.

Now I'm being told that I have to put holes in my walls!
It makes no sense to me.
Fair enough, the vents may be letting bad fumes out, but surely heat will also escape, and noise and cold blow in.

That's not my big issue though.

There is a steel beam over the windows so the vents will have to be positioned relatively low in the wall, rather than in their usual top corner position.
In practical terms, they will probably be hidden by curtains on the intertior walls, but from the outside, they will look haphazard and ugly.

Is there any way of avoiding the vents, or an alternative to them?

    I'd appreciate a response.

Trickle vents on windows have you looked at them at all.

    Thanks for the reply.
New triple glazing recently installed - ventless.
So I think it's too late to add vents to them now?

Triple gazing and a hold in the wall - ridiculous.

You can install trickle vents into an existing UPVC frame.

Bit of time and a steady hand, but can be done no problem.:)

Thanks - but googled it and this was the first response it is not a easy job to retrospectively fit trickle vents!

    Edit: Found this too http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=81657134

    Thanks.

I only rang my supplier of UPVC windows the other day, and they said that it would be 30 euro to retrofit a trickle vent.

Well I'm 95% sure I ordered my windows with vents but that's a whole other thread!
I'll look in to it, thanks.

Trickle vent would be about 20 euro extra per window.

Do you have an invoice that you can look back on...for verification??

you can fit a trickle vent very easily yourself.its only a matter of drilling a few holes in the frame.drill from both sides of window frame to avoid drill bit being dragged off line.
