I keep seeing that name everywhere as Rogue. Dreadful name for a carrier, either turns to that or makes it sound vaguely slutty.

Amazed its taken this long with the level of emigration to Canada.

In fairness, it's the French for Red, so it's Air Canada Red. Makes sense.

I'm surprised it's taken this long to sort out.

Another 763 for the spotters but a great boost for Dublin Airport. If Air Canada can see the market for a Canadian route why can't Aer Lingus? Lack of hardware I assume?

Pearson is not a bad airport from what I remember, for American-esque airports anyway.

    Excellent news

First all year route to Canada, hopefully AL too can start a route to Canada later this year if the rumours are true.

Actually Aer Lingus are planning on using their leased in B757s to operate a YYZ service, it's just in planning phase right now so no announcements made. I also believe it will be operated in conjunction with Air Canada!

Would be good if EI went for Vancouver or Calagry which also have a lot of Irish and operated it with Air Canada to ensure its a sucess but then again in economics more profit to be made on YYZ.

I'd LOVE to see Vancouver on the Aer Lingus map but Calgary is way too small in my opinion. Would work well as a code share ex YYZ with AC I reckon however.

Wancouver is second after YYZ in terms of Irish O&D passengers.

Only way Vancouver would happen is a codeshare connection from YYZ as tony says above. Montreal is about the only other option outside of Toronto for EI but it's not really a popular Irish destination per say.

Just good to see a new country on the Dublin Airport map.

We have a link to Montreal already with Air Transit and its one of their YYZ flights that stops enroute.

I suspect EI might rethink any YYZ plans in light of this (if they had any). Going head to head with AC doesn't make a lot of sense. A codeshare, however, might.

Didn't EI and AC announce some sort of codeshare recently?

    http://www.seatguru.com/airlines/Air_Canada/Air_Canada_Rouge_Boeing_767-300ER_new.php

According to seatguru, these will be configured 18/232. Thats toward the upper end of a 763's potential capacity. All in all, theres a nice bit of capacity here. This will certainly make EI think twice about launching a YYZ route, even with a 757. Air Canada have advantages as regards onward connectivity from YYZ to the rest of Canada as well.

As an aside, I'm guessing the idea of the rouge brand is an operation at a lower cost base to the mainline. Good idea to be fair. Iberia have done something similar with Iberia Express

No guessing - that's what it's about. Lower cost (staff on different contracts), higher capacity seating (no proper business class, less pitch in economy etc). This is what they're doing to try and serve more destinations/focus mainline Air Canada on non-leisure/price sensitive routes.
Didn't EI and AC announce some sort of codeshare recently?

Interline ticketing/baggage - some mentions that codeshares might follow. Probably on the DUB - LHR legs though, for feeder traffic, though this development might change things.

The first rouge 767 (operating for mainline Air Canada) may be making an appearance in DUB on Wednesday morning operating the AC894 (inbound) and 895 (outbound). That's subject to change, however.

I am pretty sure it already was in DUB last week or the week before.

It has been in Dublin most of the days last week, I got some photos of it on Saturday

It does appear to be getting in and out regularily. DUB and ATH are the only two current locations it can really go until rouge starts operating it's own flights in July.
