Advice on my next car?

I'm getting married in June and I'm currently sharing a car with my fiancee until after the wedding.

All going well I should have around 5-6k to spend.

I'm looking for something sporty. It doesnt have to be practical as I only drive at weekends anyway. I want decent power and handling and also something I can put my own touch on.

I previously owned an r53 Mini Cooper S and loved it but it did have its reliability issues.

I've looked at the Rx8, Audi TT, Mx5, Bmw 318Ci and Merc Clk.

Worried that some of these might be too feminine though.

Any ideas and suggestions would be great!

I couldn't agree more. Decide which car you like the most, then go looking for the best example. Even if you have to wait a month or 2 it would be worth it.
I would include an S3 in your search.

Have always liked the Boxster. Dont think I would want to go any bigger in engine size than 2.5.

Guess your right about not worrying about a feminine car.

    The 9-3 is nice too.

I don't know what your price range is but buy one that's well looked after even if it costs more.

Stop dreaming she'll have you in a mini van before you know it. Congrats by the way.

Thanks. I've laid down the law with her so no worries about getting stuck with a people carrier any time soon. She can drive that:)

arent the RX 8's meant to drink fuel amongst other issues? Audi TT are biggest womans car ever in my opinion. the Merc or bm would be nice. If going for the bm, Id go for an m sport. The Clk comes in a 1.8L, the minimum for the bm is 2L and its not the best engine, the 6 cylinder bm's are great, but tax on the 2.2L is E951 for the year...

More feminine than a Mini? You exhausted your "get a feminine car" cards with it :)

    :D
In my defence I bought after I sold my old syle Mini Cooper and it was dark grey and remapped to nearly 200bhp. Used to get 0-60 in about 6.4 seconds!

Yeah I heard the 2l bm engine lisnt great. Drove a TT the other day, quick car alright but pointless back seats. Not as feminine as a Beetle, surely a car that comes with a vase take the title of biggest womans car ever! :)

if you were going to consider the 2.5 v6 id go a step further and look at a st220.

A friend has one for sale. Really nice car but I would prefer a smaller engine purely for tax savings.

MX5 would be a great choice. Have you considered a 350z?
