    Hi all,

I've been studying media for the past few years and I really like it, I did radio in BCFE and now I'm almost finished a degree in media production management, my plan was to go on to do a masters in Maynooth in radio and tv production in September. I really like media and as I've already done radio I think it would be good to do tv as well. The main aim is to be as employable as possible as with anyone... The thing is, people are telling me now that I should go into digital media/marketing as that's where all the jobs are!!

Not sure what to do... How bad is the job situation in radio and tv and should I just follow what I wanted to do in the first place and hope for the best or go the digital media route where there are a lot more jobs???

Any advice would be great, thanks..

And especially if you've done. That MA in Maynooth, I'd like to know what it's like.. :)

Radio is a tough nut to crack into, it all depends on what exactly you want to do.

Are you think presentation, news, production?

Yeah, I like presenting.. I have a small show on a community station at the moment, I think I'd also be happy with news or production... I love media in the sense that you're at the heart of what's going on as well as the entertainment side of things.. I love film and tv personally also.. I haven't completely tied myself to an area I'd like to work in but I just don't think sitting in front of a computer day after day appeals to me!!

But I also want to get paid! And from what I gather I will need to do a lot of interning and free work experience before I get a real job in media... By the way, I'm in my early 30s with a mortgage...

Maybe digital media isn't so bad!! :/

Stations dont really advertise all that often, Today Fm has recently but theyre looking for experienced hacks.

A lot of jocks would start on graveyard or overnight shifts...it might be a while before you get to daytime.

Money ain't all that great starting off either

That's the thing... I think it's just a matter of getting to know as many people as possible and trying to get your foot in the door somewhere! Do you know much about digital marketing?
