Ive seen some really people with white tattoos and just wondering what people on here think of them. Ive read that the skin can react badly and it basically just turns into red scar tissue or it fades to nothing quickly. Is this true? Just like to hear peoples opinions on them?

Mine is only healing atm but already I can see parts where he couldn't really see where the line was and went off a little (I'm assuming)
However I have to admit mine was a tiny tattoo and also an impulse decision while away so I didn't research the artist or anything, something I'd always advise doing especially if its an important or big/complex piece
As its only been a couple of weeks I can't really tell you how it heals but so far so good. I've heard they wear better on pale skin, dunno if that's true or not though. And its best to get it somewhere where the sun wont get to it to avoid discoloration.
I like them. Always have. I've heard people say that only people with little knowledge of tattoos get white ink tattoos, I don't quite know why people think this but there you go!

I don't have full white ink tattoos, but I have plenty of white ink used in a few of my tattoos.

There is a risk it can fade to a yellow-ish colour, depending on the ink used.

Sometimes it can look like scarring, but not red scars, more like white scars (which looks pretty savage IMO!).

I've heard that they're more difficult to heal, but honestly I don't know how true this is as I've never had any major issues healing tattoos.

I quite like them personally, but I don't think I'd ever get a full white ink tattoo done, although I know a lady who posts here occasionally has some white ink tatts that she loves. :)

Yeah I know what you mean by looking like a cool scar but Ive seen a few that look like the person was branded by a hot iron...just kinda red/pink raw even after a few years.

Do you know (or anyone else) of a good tattooist that are known for doing good white tattoos?

I don't know of anybody who specialises in white ink tatts, but Sean in zulu did good work on me with white ink, and it looks perfect seven months on. :)

If you wouldn’t recommend the place where you got your white tattoo done could you pm the name of the place so I can avoid it?

Yeah, I know a lot of people really into their tattoos. One of my young cousins is starting out in tattooing and is covered from head to toe with them. Most of these people really aren’t into white tattoos, my cousin calls them tattoos for pu$$ies! :pac: Well he is young! Personally I just think they’re really pretty and unique, I’ve only ever seen one girl with a large sleeve done entirely in white and it was amazing....seriously I think I freaked her out by fawning over it so much.

I'll throw up a pic later when I get in from work of my tatts that have white ink them so you can see how they turned out for yourself if you want? I have fresh and healed pics of both.

He wasn't in Ireland, I was on holidays at the time but couldn't tell you the name of the place anyway tbh!
First white ink one I saw was a girl doing a piercing on me and I was the same as you! She had a full sleeve too, real unusual

    Fresh pics -

The petals and center of the flower are done in white and black ink:

Fresh again. White ink used for colour, rather than shading, in this one -

And both of them, all healed up -

    Please ignore my bony elbows!

I got the flower one done in Zulu by Sean. Would recommend.

I got the lizard one done by Deb in Pins N Needles (Molly's) on Talbot Street. Would not recommend, as the black ink is badly faded after only 4 and a half months. White ink and the coloured ink is holding up very well, though. Have to give her credit for tattooing over some scars, though. They're very well hidden.

Thanks for posting those, the white parts look really well, there is a good contrast between the white of the tattoo and the colour of your skin. Last night I did a feck load of research on white tattoos and the overwhelming opinion seemed to be against totally white tats. I read that they only really work on totally white people, the type that couldn’t tan if they wanted to. I’m very pale at the minute but I’ve sallow skin and tan very easily. Also, you must cover them with high factor sunscreen when you go out in the sun (something that can be forgotten, especially here in Ireland) and the colour can be easily altered by things we apply to our body....lotions, perfume, basically chemicals. Bloody hell, I dunno what to think now. The best thing is probably to go into a good place like Zulu and ask them there opinion based on my skin. Can you just pop into Zulu or any tattooist for a consultation or do you need to make an appointment?

Personal bad experience or you know some one it didn't work out for?

You can pop into zulu and chat to them, there's always someone on reception to chat to. :)

Bear in mind that sun exposure changes the vividity of ALL tattoos, not just white ones! I'm very pale and don't really tan, so they look fine on me, but it's completely up to yourself. :)
