Cannot Install Java on New Windows 7 Computer

    Hi,

For some reason, Java simply will not install properly on my computer.

I go to the website, follow all the instructions. After I get the "Java has installed successfully" message, I restart my computer to be sure, and go to the java verification page.

    http://java.com/en/download/installed.jsp

Java asks for permission to run. When I say yes, I get a grey box and nothing else. I have followed all the troubleshooting tips (Ensure no previous version, disable firewall/Anti-virus etc) and nothing at all works.

I am using google chrome, but it doesn't work in any browser.

    Thanks

Is there a checkbox next to it on the left hand side? If so, click it and "yes" should come enabled and click it then

The plugin may be disabled in current browsers - look for an icon in the addressbar that looks like a puzzle piece, and right-click it to see if the plugin has been disabled or not.
