    I love this series.:D
    Anyone watch part 7,last night?.
This series based on real life mafia boss Toto Riina is getting better with each episode.
This is a fascinating insight into Riina and the sicilian mafia.Apparently he committed 40 murders himself , along with another estimated 1000 he was involved in................eh allegedly.

I will be buying the DVD set ,as this is one for the collection.
The many tales and legends of the Mafia have filled film and TV screens as long as we can remember, some unforgettable, some not so. This series that first aired on Canale 5 in Italy is one of the unparalleled best.
Big in budget, and in passion, it paints the tale of Salvatore “Totto” Riina from Corleone. Claudio Gioe, himself from Palermo, plays Riina.

I see the Mayor of Corleone made a public apology a few months back for all the damage caused by the Corleonesi.

Corleone ended Wednesday night on Sky Arts.
I love true stories and Toto Riina’s life was a fascinating and a bloody one.I have great admiration for Falcone and Borsellino ,who will be remembered as brave men who did the right thing even though they knew their days were numbered. Men who wanted to make their country a better place. Although it could be argued that it’s probably their deaths that resulted in Rinna’s downfall.
To put his battle to beat the mafia in context Falcone reckoned that there was 5000 “men of honour” in sicily not including their families , informers, corrupt officials etc.
Because the show covers a 40 yr+ period it provides a great insight into the Sicilian mafia .As the series follows Riina’s Progress from teenager all the way to his arrest ,it covers the whole gamut of mafia life, the families, the corrupt politicians both local and in Rome, the killings etc. Even Rinna’s links with the Italian government/ President If you have a interest in the Mafia ,or if you liked ”The Godfather”, ”The Soprano’s” etc, you owe it to yourself to check this out to get the full picture of the Mafia’s origins

A gripping show overall ,although the last episode seemed a bit rushed. While not up to HBO stardards ,this is still well worth watching. Hope to get the box set,as soon as I find a copy.:)
