thought id get some advice here on a potential purchase, so another cat d thread for you. had a read of some of the others but thought id start a new one.

iv found a dec 09 reg golf 1.6tdi plus se (diesel, 105bhp, 5dr, 32000miles) for €11750. the catch being she was a cat d in the uk before being imported.
still in the process of lining up someone to take a detailed look at it. it was a side impact and the 2 doors replaced is all i know for sure.
id plan on keeping it for a good 5 years at this point anyway, so the resale value isnt to the front of my mind, id get that it would put some off but given that it would be 6/7 years since the accident i figure i would save more now than i would lose then.
but anyway, in lieu of an engineers report, i thought i ask here if it would still be a good deal? anything i should be worried about? im aware id need to mention it to the insurace, but if it checks out will the price go up?

if you bought an equivalent irish would it could have had the same or more damage and this probably wouldn't show up in a check

the closest like for like iv found is a early 59 reg (so late 09) with 15k less miles. its 10700 stg on car giant, so 12500 + 2000 & change VRT... so about 3000e less
