Pedro Almodóvar has a new film showing in the IFI tomorrow. I saw it in Spain a few weeks ago. It is loud, brash, dirty, hilarious, lazy, and a bit of a mess. Almodóvar without any real attempt at seriousness.

Got a chance to catch this over the weekend and really enjoyed it - a lot of fun and laughs with some great smutty humour, and somehow raunchier than most American sex comedies without resorting to T&A shots all over the place.

(On a tangentially-related note: I happened to see that self-important buffoon Mark Kermode reviewing it before I went to see it, and merely confirmed my opinion that he either doesn't get half the films he watches or has dreadful taste in film generally...)

Kermode is one of those people who I'll listen to for a little bit of entertainment but I put no faith in his reviews. I find his need to constantly do terrible impressions irritating and not the least bit funny and his hatred of Danny Dyer is bordering on the obsessive. He brings Dyer up whenever he reviews pretty much any British film and while Dyer is far from a great actor he has turned in quite a few decent performance, Malice in Wonderland for example.
