I have an old type made of timber, the dog alway's jumped into the jeep but hate's the box. I have to grab her and push her into it. as I said she new she was going out for a hunt but steers clear of this now.

I made a box myself a few years ago out of steel and checker plate aluminum, they are a great idea, but if someone runs into the back of you with the fiberglass one, the dog doesn't have much protection.
a strong metal one will give some protection.

Ya great job using one myself for my springer and lab, good/strong/easy on off, maintenance free and easy to clean, one or two of my mates bought also, would highly recommend them. Strong solid steel base, would not worry about someone running into the back of you, nearly the same as having dog in the boot.

I personally think they are a death trap. Fumes, rear end collision, cold... Just my 2cents.

    +1

Not a hope a fiberglass box will resist an impact as well as the back of a vehicles' bumper.

When was the last time any of you were rear ended going hunting?? I've had one for past 2 years for my springer and retriever. Great job no smell of dog in the jeep and no vomit from car sickness. So much more convenient than trailer and a lot cheaper too!

I was looking at getting one of these as I bought a brand new second hand car last year.... I don't want the dog to destroy it. Any trouble with dogs getting sick in it or not wanting to get in? (bad experience)
