No confidence in myself

I think I'm just looking for a little confidence or reassurance..

I'm 20, and I'm unemployed for the minute. Well until August, college. I was in college until Christmas, but I hated it. I mean, I just couldn't see myself sticking out the course for another four years. I think the fact that I'm unemployed and not in college is getting me a little down. It's only a little under fie months until college again, and I honestly can't wait to start.
It's hard seeing my friends going to college. Atm, I'm teaching myself a language, preparing for my Grading on piano, going to the gym, trying to keep myself fit. I can't help feeling like a failure though. I know I'm definitely not the only person not to go to college straight after school, but it just feels like everyone looks down on me just because I didn't. I mean, I got good grades, just hated that college course. I feel a lot better knowing that in the long run, it would've been a waste of money. It's only less than five moths, not even half a year. I know exactly what I want this year. Still feel like a failure though.

Also, I've been applying to jobs everywhere within the past four months, and got two interviews. I've one coming up tomorrow, but I already feel like I won't get it. It's hard to stay positive. My boyfriend has been fantastic motivating me and keeping me going, but it's hard. This interview tomorrow, it'd be absolutely great if I got the job, it'd keep me going right up until college starts, it'd give me money. But I just know I won't get it.

I guess my confidence has really dropped.

Instead of focussing on what you see are the negatives here look at all you have going for you.

    1. You took the brave decision to leave a course that was not right for you.
    2. You are teaching yourself a language, something beyond many people - myself included, I've tried
    3. Prepping for your piano grade - not easy either
    4. Getting fit and getting out to the gym - stick with it, all too easy to let yourself go to seed.
    5. Your boyfriend believes in you, are you telling us all he is wrong???

In terms of the interview - just relax, go in there smiling, they will be lucky to get someone who is so together and who is unafraid to make the difficult choices. And if they choose someone else? Well so what, it's their loss, all you can do tomorrow is try your best. Take a few deep breaths and focus on happy calm thoughts, this time tomorrow the interview will be over and you can relax with your boyfriend laughing over some mad plan for the weekend or something else equally crazy...

Best of luck - and chill. Having interviewed folk, the people that came in relaxed and confident (not ott mind) are the ones that always stuck out :)
