    Hi all,

I blew my 120 amp fuse through my own stupidity. So I need a new one. I had a look on the Halfords website, bit couldn't see any there. Do you think they might have one anyway? If not, is a dealer the only other port of call?

Here's a pic if the offending article:

I shorted on the alternator. I should have disconnected the battery. Rookie mistake.

Car is a 2006 Hyundai Coupe 2.0l. The car starts and runs just fine, so I didn't fry the ECU or BCM. It's just not charging the battery.

@Stella: Cheers. There's a motor factors in Enfield I pass on the way to work. I'll head up late and drop in.

A good excuse to bring the 350z to work :D

Your in Mullingar, try Mick Lenehans in Millmount, Gerry Hickeys up the road or Top Part down past the Greyhound station.

@OldmanMondeo: Cheers. These places are usually closed by the time I get home from work. I work in Dublin. If Enfield turns up a blank, I'll have to go on a lunchtime run.

Where in Dublin are you working? I deal with Motor Factors all over the place so might be able to point you to the nearest.

MicksGarage are in Parkwest. Southside Motor Factors wouldn't be to far away.

Cheers lads. Hopefully I'll get it fixed tomorrow.

OK, so Micks Garage didn't have anything for me. They just have the blade fuses in stock.

SouthSide only had a 100Amp fuse. I brought it with me and I'll try it in the car this evening. From what I gather (on a very cursory interweb search) the output of the Alternator is 90Amps, so I'm in with a shout.

If not, I'm working from home on Thursday, so I can drop into one of the Motor Factors in Mullingar ... or even the Hyundai dealers.

If you need to get it Thursday, ring one of the motor factors tomorrow, they can get it for delivered Thursday morning so your not waiting around.

The 100 A fuse seems to be holding. I'll order a proper 120 amp fuse when I get a chance. They do seem to be rare enough beasts

    Cheers to all.
