Dublin horse show mare and foal classes

I am breeding my Arabian mare this June to an Arabian stallion and I'm interested in showing said mare with foal at foot in the Dublin horse show in 2014.

I don't know very much about it though! So I have a few questions if anyone on here can answer!

The foal will be around 3 months old by August 2014 is this a good age?

As the mare and foal are both pure Arabian I am thinking of the light weight class, that would be best suited to an Arab?

Would an Arab do well in one of these shows? I won't bother if the judges are more interested in the likes of Irish horses - Connemara, hunters, tbs etc.

Arabs are build differently from other riding horses I don't want that to be a disadvantage to us, what is the best way to show off an Arab in a class such as this?

Any other tips and hints would be much help! Foal will be well handled, head collar broke and well mannered by the time the show comes around. Mare is a great girl, she will be 13 by the time the 2014 dhs comes around, she knows her stuff and has presence.

I am not sure I have ever seen Arab horses in Dublin. Not sure if you would have a chance tbh. They're normally variants of Irish sport horses who enter (probably a lot of European warmbloods now too).

    The stated aim
    Aim:
To showcase quality Irish breeding stock, to give recognition to the breeders and to encourage the production of quality young stock that should in turn rise to the top in the show and competition disciplines.

Also, its ruddy expensive to enter! 250 euro entry fee at least.

Your best bet for some fun would be to look at dedicated Arab classes and breed shows.

Scouring the web at the moment looking for Arab classes and I'm not getting much at all ... In fact unless I'm willing to spend a lot of money shipping both mare and foal to England I'm out of options.

I am going to have a talk to the stallion owner as she shows Arabians, see can I go with her when the foal is born set up some sort of "I scratch your back you scratch mine" situation considering it will benefit her stallion if this foal is successful in the showing circuits. Plus she may know a lot more about what is involved and can point me in the right directions.
