Discontinued. Have a look at the Squier version though, it's an amazing guitar at 400 quid, it's a complete stunner. Other than that you have the Blacktop series, which is a humbucker in the bridge and jazzmaster in the neck, or the Classic Player. Or if you wanna splash the cash the AVRI which are the top of the range ones. All great guitars.

Can't get enough Jazzmaster! There are a few Jap ones on Adverts too. Apparently the Squier bridge needs an upgrade? I have a Jap and love it. Only thing is the neck has that "shiny" or "lacquer" feel on the back. I prefer more natural necks,so might look into getting it sanded down someday...

If it's the new squier vintage modified one, then yeah they have a cheap jazzmaster bridge that could do with a mustang bridge at least, or a mastery. The J Mascis squier has a tune-o-matic, if you use the trem a lot it benefits from a bridge with roller saddles, they're only 20 quid or so

Thread hijack - Where is a good place to buy Jazzmaster necks? The warmoth site? Should I look into replacing the bridge on my Jap Jazz as well?

    Jap Jazz

I always think people should be careful with that word. (And I say that not as a mod but just as a casual observer of/participant in guitar fora)

If you rub it with 000 steel wool it'll take the worst of the shiny feel off it and bring it back to a satin finish, I've done it on all my instruments and it's impossible to mess up.

I've pondered this quite a bit and decided that if kraut rock is an acceptable term then so is Jap guitar. Now if it's used as a negative to say it's a ****ty Jap guitar then it could be out of line but as a direct reference to a Japanese built instrument it should be ok. Some day we'll have paddy pedals..

I always though there was another word that would be derogatory to Japanese? It begins with "n" and ends in "p"....

According to the internet (lol) it can be seen as offensive, but this could open a whole Louis Suarez / Evra can of worms...

Probably best not to use it then. :/

The Squier J Mascis is quite good, better than the Squier VM Jazzy in that it's got a tune-o-matic bridge and almost P90 ish pickups. Both these models have the distincticve Jag/Jazz switching system that previous Squier incarnations lacked.
I'd reccomend you give one a try OP. :)
