    Those samples were being processed here in Ireland 5 years ago. 100% of them. The then government exported the specimens, shut down labs and redeployed highly skilled staff. I doubt how any real savings could be made with staff still being employed, a private company contracted to do the tests with a massively increased transport cost. Not to mention the students who were in college studying to do this work and subsequently had to re-train. Irish training programmes like the pathology NCHD lost out. Now they are happy that 50% of the work will be done privately in Ireland. Without the highly experienced staff that were redeployed and with profits going to the US and Australia.
