    Hello all,
My Girlfriend has claimed for me as a "qualified adult" on her social welfare payment. The claim was made around four weeks ago. Can anybody tell me how long this payment usually takes to come through? Any time I ring the social welfare office I am left on hold for ages and no-one is ever of any help. Money is very tight at the minute and I don't want to have to rely on waiting for this. Perhaps it could be one week, perhaps 20. There is not much info on how long most people have to wait, any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Is it your girlfriends claim? Is she just adding you as an ADA? If the claim is hers then sw cannot discuss her claim with you even if you are going to be an ADA on her claim. If she the claim for the first time 4 weeks ago she should go to the community welfare officer and apply for supplementary welfare allowance until her claim is processed.

Yes the claim is hers and I am to be an ADA on her claim. When first we went to the SW they said it should take up to 2 weeks to process/come through. Still waiting at this stage . . .
I applied for a jobseekers claim but was refused under the habitual residents conditions.I went to see the comunity welfare officer myself but she was not able to help me as originally I am from Northern Ireland, after the claim was refused I went to the citizens advice bureau and the advised me that the "ADA" was the best option.

If my girlfriend was to see the wellfare officer would they be able to help with additional help or support for me?

Note: I am desperatly trying to find work and and am not some guy moving to the south to "get better benefits" as the wellfare officer suggested. I had intended to find employment before I moved and then with my affairs in hand start a new life in a new place. Unfortunately there were extrapolating circumstances and I had to make the move earlier than intended.

Again thanks for the replies and advice.

I dont think so, there was a poster on here that was waiting for a claim for an adult and a spouse and 3 kids and the CWO only gave them the €186 per week until it came through.

Is you girlfriend still getting the original amount? If so it looks like one day she will pick it up and it will include the increase for you backdated to the date you applied.

(as a side, I'm glad the citizens information gave you the information that there was another option available to you)

Yeah she is getting the original amount, 188 euro. We are still waiting for the payment to come through, I was also glad to go down to the citizens advice, they were extremely helpful and told me that this was the best and pretty much only option open to us. Reading on the citizens advice website it stated that I should have submitted documents e.g. birth cert etc. however the SW did not ask for any of these documents and provided s only with a means test form which, by looking at it was not even the full form. If they can backdate this payment that would help a lot! Hopefully this issue can be sorted soon as our situation is increasingly getting worse!

I shall be sure to post an informative thread regarding procedures and advice pertaining to this issue. Thanks once again :)

Normally claims, ADA, CDA can be backdated 6 months (not from CWO though)

I think they will only backdate it from the date you applied for the QDA.
