    If you work in the North, then presumably you pay tax there too, which would mean that you wouldn't be able to qualify for the Irish scheme. I'd say you'd have to use the UK bike to work scheme.

    Correct, but under the UK scheme the company loans the bike to the employee. The company can buy the bike from the Republic should it wish but would need to check out the VAT position

    sorry to hijack thread but I am interested in a bike to work scheme but not sure what bike to get. I have no clue about them but I would like a road bike. My ambition is to work my way up to a triathlon.

    I know the entry level is the trek 1.1 but wouldn't mind a class up. The trek 1.2 seems to be going for 1000e in the local bike shop (although I know someone who got his for 780 about 2yrs ago....why the increase?).

    I saw this offer http://www.wheelworx.ie/bikes/road-bikes/road-bikes-men/Trek-1.5-2013 and was thinking of going for it. Any advice?
