I cant anyway. I get the message below even though they wrote out to me saying my herd was in the BDP. This is on the ICBF site.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

Don't think so. That's all I did anyway. To make sure you are on it you could check on agfood under single farm payment there is an option for Beef Data Program and if you click View/Enter the two check box's should be ticked.

Im not sure as its really badly explained, all i have done is completed all the sections on the ICBF website so far, although I got a letter a while back saying i needed to compete detail for 2 calves even though this had been done

At least you can't put in data for dead calves on this one

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,274 ✭✭✭Bodacious

anyone still getting this on ICBF?

"The Department of Agriculture has not yet verified that your herd is in the Beef Data Programme"

I had to sign a permission form for them to access my herd info and be part of the beef data scheme as I did my SFP application online and ticked the beef data box, im presuming processing this signed letter is holding proceedings up?

Can you do it for stock you have already sold?

I had calves solad three weeks ago and I only filled it in the other day. Dont know whether that answers your question or not though.

HTF are we supposed to know how much milk a suckler cow has?
    • If you weigh the calves before weaning, and she has a light calf, how do we know 2 other calves weren't suckling her?
    • If her calf goes off suckling any cow that stands and it puts on 1.7 kg a day does that mean she is a good milky cow?
    • If a bunch of cows were grazing heather on the side of a mountain, they won't have much milk will they?

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

    Thought the same thing.
I have CH with plenty milk to rear a calf.. but they wouldn't make dairy cows... so where do they rank..
The other answers is you don't know.. you can only give an educated guess.

An eduacated guess is all they want. Even if it only divides cows for good and bad milk, it will help with identifying maternal bulls. Reliability figures are always low for milk. I guess that's why.

    hi all,
    just wondering if there was any update on this;
when i log into ICBF, get the following message,
The Department of Agriculture has not yet verified that your herd is in the Beef Data Programme

i did tick the acceptence box on Agfood a while back & have been recording the calf details re Docility, milk etc.

i know i could ring the helpdesk , but wondering if ye have the same issue first.

    thanks

OK, I just filled up all the data on-line on agfood.ie .
Firstly, I already filled in the data on the cows before in the old scheme. Why do I have to do it again?
It also wants data on a calf that died about 6 hours after birth. He looked like a fine bull but not sure on his docility. :D

has it been stated anywhere that we have to resubmit all info already put into ICBF or will it transfer automatically

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,921 ✭✭✭onyerbikepat

It's a bit of a mess, isn't it. The scoring system I got on a letter is different from that on-line at agfood.ie. The words used are different, like good , very good etc for the Cows Milk & Docility etc.
