Sad to see the closure of this community radio station, another victim of the current economic climate and a terrific opportunity for people to gain entry to the world of radio be it behind the mic or at the production end of things.

The government / BAI should be encouraging projects like this with a portion of the license fee our state broadcaster enjoys. The top ten earners in Montrose collectively earn 3million between them while community radio stations where staff volunteer , fall by the wayside. The divide between the rich and poor ever broadening. Shame.

That's a real shame. Enjoyed the podcast interviews Owen Binchey did with local people. Some fascinating stuff there.

It needed to be during the week.

It is about time that we got a frame work where community stations across the country could share content

    Hi tv3tg4,

I used to work at BCR and I can tell you that the plan and goal was to have a full schedule of broadcasting for the entire week. Unfortunately, as you could anticipate this takes time and resources! Neither of which BCR had :(

It was disappointing for us all to lose out - staff, volunteers and listeners.

In relation to your second comment re: sharing content/information etc across the community radio stations in Ireland, this already happens. Craol, the community radio forum of Ireland ensures that this is an easy transfer. You can see what they do on www.craol.ie.
