    Hi All,
I have applied for physiotherapy as a mature student and i am starting to worry as i have not had any contact about interviews. I've rang the admissions office but not heard back from them yet.

Has anyone else heard anything yet?
    thanks in advance

Interviews don't happen till May so it'll be a while yet I'd say.

I've applied for physio as well and have an interview on Thursday. I got an email about 2 weeks ago from admissions.

Didn't go too well, I was too nervous as I want it so much. They interview 30 people and only select 4! Not good odds!

I also got called for an interview. It was very informal (a panel of 3 lecturers from the course) and the questions (about 2 from each interviewer) were designed to gauge your interest/perception of the profession and assess your relevant experience and gave you the chance to ask any questions you may have. There was nothing really challenging about it and they didn't test your knowledge of physiotherapy in any way. It lasted 15 minutes in total approx.

    Try again next year! :)

Contact the head of the department and ask for any advice on applying next year.

Not sure if you've tried it, but the matures in my class all had completed physical therapy/massage courses & done some placements in physiotherapy practices or volunteered working with disabled people. If you're looking to apply next year you could beef up your application by completing more of these activities.
Like Larianne said, I'd call the department and ask where you could improve. They're very nice!

I'm a qualifed massage therapist/ reflexologist over 8 yrs. have had my own business since 2003.. I don't know. I obviously don't fit the demographic. Got a message of no thanks on my portal account.

    :-(

Did you demonstrate your knowledge of the breadth of physiotherapy? Areas of hospital rotation, primary care, private, sports, specialised areas? How did you demonstrate this? Did you complete any shadow/work experience in the area?

Did you demonstrate your level of ability for the course? Have you done recent education courses etc? Do you know what subjects are covered on the course?

I didn't get accepted the first year I applied and contacted the colleges and asked where I was weak. Ultimately, it came down to not showing my academic ability (and probably a terrible, nervous interview). So I worked as a care assistant for the year and attended an access course and got further shadow experience. From this, I got offered my top 3 choices. It is doable but you need to know what they are looking for. Unfortunately having experience in massage therapy alone does not cut it.
